TEAM KADOWAKI's Long Book Revie

When we read "The Piano", we thought this was a story that could actually be true. The hero is fascinated by the piano, but he has to work though he is young because he is poor. One day he finds an old piano in the garage and is fascinated by the piano. He has an amazing talent for the piano. Some adults see this and try to get the poor boy to take piano lessons. Thanks to them, he was able to become a great pianist.
When I read the book, I came to play the piano. Even if someone doesn’t have money enough to live, he must not give up living. Those who are like the main character of the book may have a gift which we couldn’t find easily. I think I don’t have a gift for music, but I am full of curiosity, and I am willing to do anything. So everyone should do anything, if they have curiosity. The main character of the book works well and practices the piano hard and won the competition. I thought the effort is repaid, and everyone should make an effort.
Next, I tried to put myself in the hero's shoes and considered. The following is a statement I wrote the main character.  ―I’d been looking for what I really wanted to do. All of my friends worked at shops or factories. For me, those were worst things. But what I can do to make the money? But I found my job. That was farming. I like country. I like Mr and Mrs Wood and their daughter Linda. I worked so hard to make the money. I had only this choice but I liked it, until that day I found the piano in Mr Wood’s building. When I sat front of the piano, something came on to my mind and I felt something special. I didn’t know how to explain it. I think this was the turning point of my life. Until now, I chose my life by process of elimination. I liked working at the farm more than factories and shops. But now, I realized that the piano is what I really want to do. Playing the piano makes me happy. That is why I was obsessed with my work of the piano. What do you think if I didn’t meet the piano at that time? Or if I didn’t try to practice?― Did I understand him a little better?
Of course, the hero is very fascinating, but I was also particularly moved by the adults around him. They worked to develop the poor boy's outstanding talent somehow. They were all short of money, but each of them did what they could to help the boy. His talent wasn't nipped in the bud, but was nurtured by the adults around him and by himself. No one gave up on him. If everyone else had given up, he would have been a farmer all his life. It's as if he didn't have a talent for the piano.
I thought this is true in today's world as well. There are so many children in the world today who want to learn but can't, or who have the ability but don't have the space or money to develop it. Every child has a gift. And we need to know what policies are in place now to nurture them and how we can move forward. I thought we should think about what things are missing and what systems and policies are needed for children's future, so I looked into the recent buzz about Corona virus and students in the view of society.
Students who are no longer able to work part-time due to Corona virus pandemic are struggling to live and pay for school. In Japan as well, there are students who have been forced to drop out of school because they were unable to work part-time and pay their tuition fees due to Corona virus, I heard in the news that there is.  I researched what the government and the country are doing to support students, not only in Japan but also in other countries. I found out that the support is not enough. Things what we can't expect is, can't predict the governments neither. The government and the country were confused, just as we were confused by the sudden spread of the corona virus. Governments had to make policies and support in hurry, but of course the politics and supports were not enough. I am able to attend college thanks to my parents, but in a world where anything can happen, this issue could not be said to be irrelevant to me. I want to think about it more.

I thank Sawa, Kaori, and Misaki for their contributions to this review.

GATTACA

I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body. You lent me your dream.

A world where everything is determined by genes. You are worthy of your existence, your future dreams and your job. The story of a world where personality, disease, cause of death and life expectancy are known in three seconds after birth.

The man who dreams of becoming an astronaut, was born without genetic engineering, which left him physically weak and socially unappreciated. He doesn't have the genes to be an astronaut, and for him, being an astronaut was an impossible dream. One black market deal changes his life. He met a man with amazing physical abilities and strong genes. The man had lost the freedom of his lower body due to in a car accident.

I was mesmerized by the beauty of Uma Thurman.

Each character is conflicted inside, troubled and envious of others. Their struggles are also a highlight. I was also struck by the beauty of the scenes. There is something fantastical and dreamy and ephemeral about it.

A Quiet Place

If they hear you,
they hunt you.

If you make a sound, you die, that's the story of the world. It's a series of very tense scenes, and the main character's family is very impressive as they live their lives without making a sound. The sounds of talking, walking, eating food, and everything else are deadly. The most memorable scene for me was the one where the father and the child scream with all their might near the waterfall. The child is frightened at first, but finds that the sound of the waterfall cancels out their voices and they scream together. I sensed how happy that made them, who normally can't scream out loud, happy. The scene where the pregnunt mother is in the bathtub.... is also memorable. Her play was amazing. Strangely enough, I spent a lot of time after watching this movie not making a sound either. And I understood how difficult it was. The influence of movies is amazing.

Sister Act 2

If you want to be somebody, if you want to go somewhere, you'd better wake up and pay attention.

Soon after watching Sister Act, I wanted to see Sister Act 2 as well, so I went to the video rental store.

I knew the sisters were the best!

This time, Sister Mary Clarence change the delinquent boys and girls with her humor and songs. She's going to have a lot of problems, but she's going to be the kind of woman who builds trust with her students.

The sisters' songs were great, of course, but the students' songs were great.

I was very impressed with the way the kids, who weren't really into it at first, took the songs seriously. It was very encouraging to see everyone singing their hearts out and being themselves at the competition.

The movie in this series give me courage, dreams, and laughter, and I'm sure they do for you too.

Sister Act

No Sex.
No Booze.
No Men.
No Way.
This is the first time to see this movie. This is one of the famous movies in the world. I have watched "Ghost", so I knew Whoopi Goldberg. Her play is so powerful and all the characters that she acted were nice. This is a comedy movie about a woman so her boyfriend try to kill her that she become a sister to hide from him for saving her own life. At first, she hated church and she hesitated to pretend a sister, so she didn't use to spending daily life as a sister. One day, she is appointed a director of choir that was a turning point for her. I was impressed their chorus. They enjoy singing and change many things. I like "Hail Holy Queen" the best of all songs in this movie. If you have never watched this movie, please chack it out and listen amazing songs!

The Piano

The story of hero is a poor boy. He didn’t like study but the music class when he was a student. Perhaps he liked listening to the sound of the piano rather than singing. After graduate the school, he worked in a farmhouse for earning money. One day, he found the old piano in garage. I think this is a inevitable destiny for him. Gods gave him a talent. The poor boy who loves the piano and is loved by the piano, he continued to practice the piano everyday . Everyone people around the boy cheers him up. I was moved by the kindness of them. As growing up, we quit to have a grant dreams and give up many things easily. Actually, The fear that occurs when I try to something new is bigger as I grow up. However, in this story, everyone does whatever they can for this poor talented boy, I was very impressed.

The red shoes

Maybe I have read this story, but I only remember the heroine's legs are cut down, so I read it again. This story's heroine named Karen. At first, she was very poor, but thanks to her red shoes, she was able to be adopted by a rich old woman. After then, her obsession for the red shoes got harder. I can't understand her because the red shoes are more important than adoptive mother's life for Karen. I don't know what to say. Maybe her past influenced her obsession for the red shoes. I think this story tells us that don't be arrogant and even if you make a mistake in the past, if you reflect on it and apologize, you can get God's forgiveness.
